How can a simple book change your life? I didn't think it could happen either until I felt the awesome power Never Say Just bestowed upon me after reading chapter one.Suddenly, I had the ability to travel in time to before man. There I witnessed the elusive Jackalope during its mating season. Watching in awe as the Jackalope mounted its mate, I suddenly realized I had been doing it all wrong all these years.
So I fast forwarded to present day and started using my new found sexual abilities on any willing prey. Unfortunately, after waking up with Matilda, the one toothed cashier at Dollar Tree on more than one occasion, I knew I had to be careful and learn to control my new prowess.
With the rash gone I needed guidance on how to control my new life altering ability, I read chapters 2 thru 10. As I turned each page, muscles started forming where a beer gut and man boobs had once been. Rocking my new Magnum P.I. physique, I soon became the heart throb of section 8 housing. Women everywhere were throwing their W.I.C. checks at me, left and right.
Now on a steady diet of government cheese, milk, pinto beans and peanut butter, my tape worm has bulked up quite a bit as well giving me the appearance of two extra ripped abs.
Now I must warn you. Do not read past chapter 10 unless you are responsible enough to wield the uber-super-secret-agent-ninja powers!
While experimenting with my new found ultra-ninja moves, I came across a pretty little think at the liquor loft. A one eyed 5'9" brunette with legs up to her chin, milky white skin, wearing a sequin tube top revealing a belly button piercing and two singing sparrow tattoos, spandex shorts that accentuated her healthy muffin top. Her name was Todd.
During a dispute with her pimp I swept in (using my FBI-Ninja abilities) silently behind him and rendered him unconscious. Todd smiled at me, revealing the most beautiful top denture I'd ever seen. As I stared in her beautiful brown eye, I knew it was love at first sight.
From there it's all happily ever after. Todd and I now travel around the country in our fifth wheel with our five kids, Bob, Billy, Billy Bob, Bob Billy, and J.d.

Never Say Just is a book that has to grow on you. I struggled to get through the first part of the book. The storyline began with a brother returning home from the marines with several of his marine friends to spend the summer with his sister. Shortly after the brother enters the storyline he sort of disappears and fades into the background.
The female character finds out that their story about visiting for the summer is a ruse and they actually are there to protect her and her daughter from a person bent on revenge because of her previous career as an assassin for a government agency. How realistic is it that this woman marries a billionaire after a career as an assasin? She decides to play along with her brother and even seduce one of the marines to obtain information. At this point I felt the plot was too farfetched. How would one logically jump from meeting the marines and finding out their true intent to deciding to seduce one of them? This is particularly unbelievable because she was also gang raped, beaten, and cut previous to their visit which is the reason they make her so uncomfortable.
Despite the far fetched plot, much shaking of my head, and the many times when I closed my and thought I couldn't go on the characters begin to resonate with me. One of the marines apparently fell in love with her on first sight, they loved, lost, and came back together. It was an anti-climatic, predictable happy ending.

Great book. I loved it and read it in about five hours. I recommend this book to anyone that lives adventure.
I was cheering for Kat the whole way through this fun and humorous action adventure! The interwoven love story made my heart leap. I couldn't put it down! It was a quick read and left me wanting to hear more from the leading lady and this band of military men. Harper's writing style was unique, yet easy for me to relate.
I loved Kat's story! I loved how everything was explained with explicit detail. I felt as though I was experiencing the same feelings as Kat, I would like to learn more about the Rat Bastard's. I hope she writes their individual stories.
This made me want to be the Rat Bastards friend. They are kick-a** hero's and so much fun. Can't wait for any sequels that come along. Hopefully Katie writes some. Well worth the read.
This book came to me as a request for a read/review. I went through three books the other night looking for one that "worked." As many know, I don't do a review if I can't at least give it a three and if I can't finish one I don't ever mention the title. Then I opened this one. First, I must confess that I love military men in stories. Flawed yet heroic this cast of characters didn't let me down nor did Ms. Harper's caustic yet humorous writing style. This one was done in two days and I'm wishing there was another ready to take its place. If you are looking for a contemporary romance that isn't squishy and plotless check this one out.
